Students are admitted into Pre-Business and will apply to Management Information Systems (MIS) major through a competitive and selective process to gain admission.MIS majors learn to apply computer technology, quantitative techniques, and administrative skills to the information-processing problems of organizations. By combining computer technology with management decision-making methods, students learn to analyze, design, implement, and manage computerized information systems in an organizational environment. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor, programmers, systems analysts, and computer specialists have the highest employment growth rate.
The knowledge gained from a major in Management Information Systems of economics, accounting, database management, marketing, data communications, and administrative skills prepares students to analyze, design, implement, and manage computerized information systems in an organizational environment. Graduates in this major may work as managers, system administrators, analysts, consultants, or security specialists for companies and organizations in almost any industry. This major is also excellent preparation for graduate studies in business administration, computer science, or information science.
