The Sociology program at Murray State University offers an undergraduate major and minor. Through these programs,
- Students gain sociological training and learn to apply sociological knowledge in seeking solutions to local, state, national, and international problems.
- This undergraduate program also prepares students to consume and engage in sociological research by obtaining both quantitative and qualitative research skills during their training.
- Many of the faculty also collaborate with students on research and publishing. Faculty research and teaching interests include areas such as
- Social inequalities,
- Criminology and Deviance,
- Media and Culture,
- Gender, Race/Ethnicity,
- Immigration and Globalization, and various topics relating to work and the economy.

Academic Eligibility:
- Applicant must have received or be receiving a high school diploma or a GED certificate before the term for which he/she is applying.
- Applicant submit your official high school transcript after graduation.
- If GPA is 2.0-2.99, applicant must also report ACT or SAT test score on the application.
Standards:
- High school GPA of 3.0 or higher (no ACT/SAT test score required for admission decision).
- High School GPA of 2.0 - 2.99 with an ACT composite score of 18 or higher (SAT 960 or higher).
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
- All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE)
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
- Indian School Certificate (ISC)
- Intermediate Examination Certificate
- Pre-University Examination Certificate
- Students must have a Grade XII chemistry or Grade XII physics.
- Students also hold Grade XII math (Minimum math result of 55%).
Students are not required to take the IELTS or TOEFL Academic if English is their native language or if Students have spent at least three years at a secondary school where English is the primary language of instruction.
