Bachelor of Science [B.S] Nutrition
At UNC, you?ll get personalized guidance all the way through graduation from a faculty adviser who helps you choose coursework and extracurricular activities that support your academic interests and career goals. Our small classes encourage plenty of interaction among students and faculty, and nearly every course is led by a Ph.D. professor (not a graduate student) who combines academic expertise with years of professional experience. You?ll get a practical, hands-on education that includes opportunities for community service and participation in research.
This degree provides wide flexibility in course selection, enabling you to focus your studies on subjects that fit your career objectives and provide a strong science-base for graduate school. Common areas of focus include health care, fitness, business, and food production and service. In addition, you can combine the nutrition degree with a second major in Nursing, Sports Medicine, Athletic Training or other health-related disciplines. However you structure your program, you?ll gain hands-on knowledge and skills through projects and observations in food service settings, community service programs and on-campus labs. The degree prepares you to sit for the Certified Dietary Manager exam, should you seek that credential.
