Doctor of Philososphy [PhD] Rehabilitation Science

The UCSF Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science, in collaboration with faculty from the Department of Physical Therapy at San Francisco State University (SFSU), is offering a unique opportunity to study rehabilitation science.

The specific aims and objectives of the PhD program include to:

  • Create a preeminent center of learning and discovery in rehabilitation science at the doctoral level.
  • Leverage the expertise of faculty within the academic program at both UCSF and SFSU to strengthen and expand the training in rehabilitation sciences available to students and develop academic areas of focus that draw on the strengths of our faculty and the campus.
  • Enhance interactions with the broader academic community in rehabilitation science centers of excellence at the national level.

Academic Eligibility:

  • A bachelor’s, master’s or a doctoral degree in physical therapy, neuroscience, exercise physiology, biomedical engineering, or a related rehabilitation science or professional field is required
  • GPA of 3.0
  • All applicants are expected to have completed preparatory coursework in the following areas:
  • Biology (minimum 2 semesters)
  • Chemistry (minimum 2 semesters)
  • Physics (minimum 2 semesters)
  • Mathematics (through calculus)
  • Statistics
  • Anatomy
  • Physiology

Indian Students Eligibility:

  • Applicants must have bachelor or master or doctoral degree in physical therapy, neuroscience, exercise physiology, biomedical engineering, or a related rehabilitation science or professional field from recognised institution
  • GPA of 3.0 is required
  • Applicants must have completed course work in
