  • The Department of Geological Sciences offers both BS and BA degrees in geology, a number of minors and combined, five-year programs leading to the MAT degree in earth science education.
  • The BS is designed to satisfy the entrance requirements and expectations of the top graduate schools in the country. The BS is also the appropriate choice for a student seeking immediate employment as a geologist.
  • The BA in geological sciences is designed to be more flexible. It provides a good liberal arts education in the physical sciences. It is often combined with other interests, such as science journalism or political science.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Official transcripts are required for each of the most recent three (3) years of schooling completed. 
  • Proof of English proficiency may be required for international applicants, whose first language is not English.
  • Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL to get admission in this program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

  • The student has graduated from senior secondary school or equivalent from the recognized institution.
  • Non-native English speakers must submit one test score demonstrating English Proficiency. All test scores must be less than 2 years old.
  • Binghamton accepts the following tests for demonstrating English proficiency:  TOEFL,  IELTS, Duolingo, SAT and ACT.
