Master of Arts [M.A] Journalism

  • Create socially responsible, accurate and impactful digital, print, and broadcast content using the latest reporting tools. Whether they are an active professionals looking to expand their knowledge and network, or your bachelor’s degree is in another field and they want to pivot to journalism—they will leave DePaul headed to the next step of their writing, editing or production career.
  • The program is typically completed in two years. Classes are offered weekday evenings on the Loop Campus.
  • Work on investigative reporting projects with Peabody Prize-winning Chicago and national media veterans Carol Marin and Don Moseley, co-leaders of DePaul’s Center for Journalism Integrity and Excellence.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students should have completed a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Students require a minimum 3.7 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Language Requirments:

  • Proof of English proficiency may be required for international applicants, whose first language is not English.
  • Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL to get admission to this program.

International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
