Diploma Engineering and Fabrication Technologies

  • Diploma in Engineering and Fabrication Technologies at Douglas College is offered as 2 years teaching program.

  • In the first year, students will complete the academic courses required for the first year of a bachelor’s degree in engineering at a university.

  • Students will gain experience constructing and programming robots, using a Raspberry Pi to control mechanical devices, and using cutting-edge fabrication technologies such as water jet cutters and laser cutters.
  • All classes are offered during the day with some in the late afternoon or evening.
  • It will take 1 year, (3 semesters) for full-time students to complete the Engineering Foundations Certificate and 2 years, (5 semesters) for full-time students to complete the Diploma in Engineering and Fabrication Technologies.
  • Students may have job opportunities as a Drafting and Design Engineer, Automotive Engineer, Aerospace Engineer, etc.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must complete BC secondary school graduation (or the equivalent in another school system).
  • Students have one course short of BC secondary school graduation.
  • Students complete 19 years old by the end of the first month of the first semester of attendance.
  • Students to the Engineering and Fabrication Technologies Diploma program must also meet the following criteria in order to receive admission to the program and priority registration:
    • English 12 with a minimum grade of B
    • Physics 12 with a minimum grade of B
    • Chemistry 12 with a minimum grade of B
    • Principles of Math 12 or Precalculus 12 with a minimum grade of B

Language Requirements:

  • Students must have strong English skills.
  • The students whose official language is not English must submit the English Language Proficiency scores like IELTS or TOEFL.
  • If the student does not meet the language requirements they can take English Language Learning and Acquisition (ELLA) program and complete it and pursue this program.
