Bachelor of Arts [B.A] Film and Video Studies
- George Mason University’s Film Studies program is the first multidisciplinary undergraduate degree in film making in Virginia. With 200 students, we offer a B.A.in Film Studies with concentrations in Directing and Producing, Production (Cinematography) Post-Production (Editing and Sound), and Screenwriting. Each concentration includes a business course, ethics course, and capstone experience where students are mentored by faculty on original projects in their senior year that prepares them for work as professional media makers.
- Film Studies is driven by an independent film spirit. Faculty are keen to increase self-reflexivity and cross-cultural understanding in our students. We inspire students to work collaboratively and explore a variety of filmmaking styles and techniques. Creative solutions and original thinking are paramount.

Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
- Students required to maintain at least a 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 overall GPA.
Language Requirments:
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.
- Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission.
International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
