Bachelor of Science [B.S] Interior Design
As a part of the interior design degree program students complete field experiences or internships to further understand the profession and identify career goals. Students may participate in the London Interior Design Internship Study Abroad program. Students also have opportunities to attend trade shows, the Chicago Merchandise Mart and industry showrooms. An active student chapter of ASID hosts a variety of speakers and activities to further enhance the profession.
The program teaches students to:
- analyze the client’s needs, goals and requirements;
- formulate design concepts that are appropriate, sustainable, functional and artistic;
- prepare drawings and specifications for interior construction, materials, space planning, furnishings, finishes and equipment;
- collaborate with mechanical, electrical and architectural design professionals;
- prepare and administer bids and contracts; and
- review and evaluate design solutions.
