Bachelor of Arts [B.A] Classical Languages

To obtain a bachelor’s in classical languages from Creighton, you’ll need to complete 27 hours of study, with a concentration in either Greek or Latin. Our curriculum features an introduction to the classical and ancient Near Eastern world, prose composition in your concentration language and a senior capstone seminar culminating in the public defense of a senior thesis. Throughout the program, you’ll also study authors or topics in your concentration language.

Ancient Greek Minor

Students will study intermediate and advanced ancient Greek, along with elective courses from another ancient language or classical and Near Eastern studies offerings in translation.

Latin Minor

Students will study intermediate and advanced ancient Latin, along with elective courses from another ancient language or classical and Near Eastern studies offerings in translation.

Outcomes

Within 6 months of graduation, 96% of Creighton’s College of Arts and Sciences graduates are employed, enrolled in graduate school or volunteering in their field. The majority of classical and Near Eastern civilizations majors go on to pre-professional study in health sciences or law. Additionally, some of our recent graduates have gone on to become journalists and teachers.
