Master of Science [M.S] Health Outcomes, Policy and Economics
- One of the country’s few graduate programs focused on educating highly trained professionals to conduct research in health economics and outcomes, the master of science degree program is a joint academic partnership of the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and the School of Public Health and is offered through Rutgers’ Institute for Health Outcomes, Policy and Economics.
- The need to balance economics with patient outcomes and comparative effectiveness is increasingly recognized across society, as more patients and greater costs continually challenge the healthcare system.
- Research and analysis conducted by experts can lead to sound policy and practice, improving outcomes while allocating resources effectively.
- Pharmacists, with their expertise in wellness and medication management to optimize patient health, are naturally positioned to become leaders in this emerging—and fast-growing—field.
- This graduate program will appeal to candidates who have strong quantitative skills and an aptitude for advanced mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, economics, epidemiology, research design, or similar disciplines.
- Students nearing completion of their PharmD studies as well as pharmacy professionals are encouraged to consider this new, high-demand career pathway in pharmacy.
