The field of microbiology is constantly expanding as we learn more about the role of microbes in infectious disease, environmental remediation, bioenergy, food safety, antibiotic resistance, biotechnology, and much more. The core courses focus on the diversity, genetics, biochemistry, and physiology of microorganisms.
