The microbiologist and immunologist develop preventive approaches, vaccines, therapeutic approaches and drugs for the treatment of infectious , inflammatory and rheumatic diseases. More specifically, the microbiologist can detect new pathogens, discover new therapies to fight infections and, identify mechanisms of resistance to antibiotics and antivirals.
