- Mechanical engineers focus on the design and operation of machinery and the prediction of machine behaviour in industries such as transportation, power generation, energy conversion, environmental control, materials processing and materials.
- The program provides students opportunities to obtain the skills necessary to define, formulate, and solve advanced problems through education and research in the field of mechanical engineering.
- Two options are available:- Thesis and non-thesis.
- Non-Thesis Option: This degree is intended for those applicants who expect to enter the engineering profession at an advanced level or those who are employed and seeking professional development.
- Thesis Option: This degree is intended for those applicants who expect to enter the engineering profession at an advanced level with some creative research experience.

Academic Eligibility:
- Applicants for the graduate programs must have an earned baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related area and must have completed such formal training as to warrant advanced study in the major and minor fields.
- The applicant must be in good standing at the institution last attended.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required on a 4.0 scale to be eligible for the program.
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
- Additional coursework may be required as prerequisites upon faculty review and communicated with the student prior to official admission to the graduate program
- Admission may be offered to non-mechanical engineering BS degree holders on a case-by-case basis
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
