In this light, the MasterCard University of California, Berkeley Masters Scholarships aspire to create a group of young, morally upright, business-minded leaders who will spearhead and direct socio-economic change in Africa. The Scholars Program is a growing commitment, and as of today, the Program has committed over USD $1.2 billion to assist more than 40,000 young people in their pursuit of education and leadership development.

Application Requirements
Must be a citizen of a Sub-Saharan African country: Must possess academic talent: All prospective Scholars must first be admitted to a UC Berkeley master's degree program to be considered for the Scholarship. Must demonstrate leadership potential: Must show proof of coming from a socio-economically disadvantaged background. Must express the desire and intention to return to your home country after completing your studies.

Application Steps
Note: To be considered for the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program, Graduate degree seekers must first be admitted to the university through the regular admissions process before they will be considered for the MasterCard Foundation Scholarship Program. After the graduate degree program admissions process is underway, the UCB Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program will invite prospective candidates to apply for the Scholarship.
