Ghent University PhD Scholarships for Candidates from Developing Countries

With support from its “Special Research Fund” (BOF), Ghent University grants Ph.D. “sandwich” scholarships to promising Ph.D. students from developing countries who wish to carry out half of their Ph.D. research at Ghent University ('North') and a half at a university in a developing country ('South'). Ghent university funds only part of the research that is carried out in Ghent. The candidate must have full funding for the research to be carried out in the South (Developing ccountry)

Application Requirements

Candidates must come from and have the nationality of a developing country. The proposals must be jointly submitted by a candidate, a supervisor (promoter) at Ghent University, and a supervisor at the partner university (South). While there are no restrictions imposed on the field of research, preference will be given to topics that are relevant for development. Only degree students (students who intend to obtain a (joint ) Ph.D. degree at Ghent University) are welcome to apply. Women researchers are encouraged to apply.
