The Kader Asmal Fellowship Programme is a fully-funded scholarship opportunity offered to South African students to study at the Master’s level in Ireland’s world-renowned Higher Education Institutions. The Ireland-Africa Fellows Programme, which is administered by the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs, includes this flagship initiative of the Irish Embassy in South Africa. Application Requirements

Must be a resident national of South Africa. Have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience (this can include internships and volunteering positions. Must hold an honors’ level academic qualification from an accredited and government-recognized higher education institution, with a minimum grade point average of 75% - i.e. a first-class honor, or second-class honor, Grade 1 (in some cases a second-class honor Grade 2 may be accepted). Must not already hold a qualification at master’s level or higher. Must be applying to commence a new course at the master’s level in Ireland no sooner than August/September 2023. Must demonstrate leadership abilities and aspirations, as well as the commitment to the achievement of the SDGs within your own country. Must have identified and selected two relevant courses from the Ireland-Africa Fellows Program Directory of Eligible Courses, see course list. Must have a clear understanding of the academic and English language proficiencies requirements for the course applied for. Must not have applied for the program before and must be ready to take up the fellowship on the specified year.

Application Steps

The application process which is entirely online consists of three stages: Stage 1 - preliminary application: Opens 4 July 2022, closes 03 August 2022 Please complete and submit the Stage 1 application form available on the Canon Collins website. This is a short application form that allows our selection panel to assess your eligibility under the various criteria of the Programme. Stage 2 - detailed application: Opens 7 September 2022, closes 30 September 2022 If your Stage 1 application is successful, you will be invited to move on to Stage 2 of the process, and complete a more detailed application form including the submission of all required documents. Stage 3 –English language tests and interviews: Please read through these notes fully before you submit your Stage 1 application
