Acms Full Masters & Phd Scholarships For African Students

The African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS) at the University of the Witwatersrand awards MA and PhD scholarships offered by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) as part of its ‘In-Region Scholarship Programme South Africa’. Full scholarships are available for Four MA and Five Ph.D. students accepted for the Migration and Displacement program at ACMS. DAAD makes the final decisions on the scholarships and administers them. ACMS is in charge of the first phase of the application process, which involves pre-selecting and shortlisting candidates. It also submits the shortlist to DAAD for the second phase of the application process and final decisions. The scholarship is fully funded.

Application Steps

Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of a country in Sub-Saharan Africa (excluding South Africa);
Applicants must At the time of application, have finished their most recent university degree within the last six years;
MA applicants must have a Humanities Honours degree or equivalent with a cumulative grade point average of at least 65 percent;
Ph.D. candidates must hold a master's degree in the humanities (ideally in the social sciences) with a grade point average of at least 70%;

Must have been admitted into ACMS' MA/PhD program in Migration and Displacement (please see application information here).
